Luther Maxwell Johnson, Jr. is originally from Delta, Pennsylvania where he spent his early years doing farm work and learning a lot about trees. After five years (5) serving his country in the United States Air Force, he began working for Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) as a Transit Operator. He worked part-time performing tree removal and tree trimming services while continuing his full time job with MTA.
It is during this time that creating a tree removal business began to pique his interest. In 2004, after 38 years, he retired from MTA and launched L Johnson Tree Service LLC (LJTS). Mr. Johnson became incorporated, a Licensed Tree Expert, and begin providing full-time services.
His expertise includes: extensive native plant knowledge, sustainable forestry techniques, and invasive species knowledge, expert crane work and removing large trees. Mr. Johnson is a true advocate for second chances. He trains, employs and mentors several young men in the community. LJTS' certifications include Minority and Women Business Opportunity, Minority Business Enterprise and Prince George’s County MBE.
LJTS is recognized by the Black Wall Street Urban Business Center as an exemplary company for it commitment to excellence and serving the Baltimore community at large.
